Xorg no run in Cooking.
  • RobertugoRobertugo November 2010
    Hello to all, the new Cooking of Slitaz refuses to run de graphics server Xorg in my pc. The slim.log files related to the problem are:

    (==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
    (==) Using config directory: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d"
    dlopen: libdrm.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions/libdri2.so
    (EE) Failed to load module "dri2" (loader failed, 7)
    dlopen: libdrm.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/X11/modules/extensions/libdri.so
    (EE) Failed to load module "dri" (loader failed, 7)
    (EE) VESA(0): No valid modes
    (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

    Fatal server error:
    no screens found

    If I install the tazpkg of libdrm and replace the xorg.conf file; Xorg starts idle, without keyboard and without mouse.

    The relevant lines about this respect in the log file of the xorg server say:

    But the same CD with Slitaz Cooking run fine under Virtual Box...

    Does anyone have an idea regarding the cause?
    In advance thank you for your help!
    Best regards.

    Hi, i have the same problem with a lowram-cdrom image from cooking

     tazx
    select your driver, it will download all the missing packages and hopefully then it should work
  • RobertugoRobertugo November 2010
    Jozee thank you for their reply. The problem is that the native driver is of the series Nvidia 96.43.18 and it doesn't load after compiling (unknown symbol). Alone wanted to see the last Cooking running from the CD in my PC, with the generic Vesa driver; but it is the first time that Slitaz is not able to run in graphic mode in my computer, I await to that these problems with the new Xorg server is solved quickly, greetings.

    The kernel version (2.6.34)used to build the 20101104.cooking.iso doesn't match the kernel driver/modules on the cooking repository(2.6.36).
    root@slitaz: uname -r

    If the output is 2.6.34 upgrade to 2.6.36:
    root@slitaz: tazpkg recharge

    followed by
    root@slitaz: tazpkg upgrade

    After verifying your kernel's upgraded to 2.6.36

    rerun tazx

    @mojo - that works like this, but I think it would be better to publish a new cooking with 2.6.36 kernel, than all of us have to update for testing
