    The URL's in u tazpkg need to be updated ;) CAn you fix it Master Mojo ?

    @Christophe, I've succeed to install office 2000 premium simply with current stable wine tazpkg. Just 2 error message during installation and does the full install whatever u chose as options.

    Office 2007 seems to be ok also. But never succeed with 2002 (xp) or 2003 .
    For me 2007 is just stupidely over-big

    You can find a collection of the links here:
    http://web.nickshanks.com/fonts/microsoft-core-web-fonts

    use cabextract to extract the files from the exe's and then copy them to /usr/share/fonts/ - That's how I did it ;)
  • molmol August 2010
    Allright

    I've extract them, I've put them in /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu

    (there's also /usr/share/fonts/X11 ) .

    There were already fonts there . So I'v replaced them. Nothing change in Word and Excel . Same in /root/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts . Copy-paste

    I've re-install Office , still ugly. I've removed the fonts in /root/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts as it seems that it works with only fonts in /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu

    Is there any kind of option in Wine ? Like anti-aliasing or else ?

    Thx for reply

  • Trixar_zaTrixar_za August 2010
    I didn't copy it to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/ - I copied it straight to /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ (sorry, I forgot the /truetype/ earlier):
    brenton@trixarian:/usr/share/fonts/truetype$ ls
    andale.inf fontinst.inf Trebucbd.ttf
    AndaleMo.TTF Georgiab.TTF trebucbi.ttf
    Arialbd.TTF Georgiai.TTF trebucit.ttf
    Arialbi.TTF Georgia.TTF trebuc.ttf
    Ariali.TTF Georgiaz.TTF ttf-bitstream-vera
    Arial.TTF Impact.TTF ttf-dejavu
    AriBlk.TTF Licen.TXT Verdanab.TTF
    Comicbd.TTF Tahomabd.TTF Verdanai.TTF
    Comic.TTF Tahoma.TTF Verdana.TTF
    courbd.ttf Timesbd.TTF Verdanaz.TTF
    courbi.ttf Timesbi.TTF Webdings.TTF
    couri.ttf Timesi.TTF
    cour.ttf Times.TTF

    Works for me when they are in there. It's not part of the ttf-dejavu fonts, so I don't think they'll work well in there. I had to reboot before I could use them in my programs though. (Works in Firefox, xchat, sakura, Abiword, etc)
  • moulefritemoulefrite August 2010
    yeah ..
    but it's not a question of having them working for Linux apps but for MS Office crap ;)

  • Trixar_zaTrixar_za August 2010
    Yeah, just tried getting to work in wine - lol. Not sure why it's not working - the manual says you need to copy them to .wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts and I did - even set them to chmod 777

    Not sure why wine isn't detecting them. Used winecfg to test though. Maybe I should use an application to check.

    EDIT: Ok, fixed the problem. You need to enable Fonts Smoothing in wine:
    First open the terminal and type wine regedit, then search for FontSmoothing and set it from 0 to 1. This sorted the ugly fonts for me in wine :P

    The fonts showed up in the test application I used (because it's in \windows\Fonts) and it was only the FontSmoothing that was making the rendering of them ugly. Hope it works for you now too. :P

    Scripting is not my forte.
    I do my best to work with what is given by the developers of slitaz and to convey that knowledge to users requesting assistance.
    I check wok-undigest/get-msttcorefonts , no update by jozee since cooked May 30, 2010
    The best I can offer is an untested repack install,and the receipt which may assist in a manual install.
    Repacked install of msttcorefonts:
    http://www.mediafire.com/file/coccizjwz79jbf5/msttcorefonts-2.0.tazpkg

    Post install shows font path and fc-cache execution:
    PACKED_SIZE="2.4M"
    UNPACKED_SIZE="5.8M"
    PACKAGE="msttcorefonts"
    VERSION="2.0"
    CATEGORY="non-free"
    SHORT_DESC="TrueType core fonts for the web."
    DEPENDS="fontconfig"
    WEB_SITE="http://sourceforge.net/projects/corefonts"
    TAGS="fonts"

    # Pre and post install commands for Tazpkg.
    post_install()
    {
    local root
    root=${1:-/}
    echo "Processing post-install commands..."
    chroot $root/ /usr/bin/fc-cache /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts >/dev/null 2>&1
    }

  • Trixar_zaTrixar_za August 2010
    @mol why are you saving it under root/.wine/drive_c/windows/Fonts? Did you run winecfg in your terminal as a normal user to create a .wine directory in your user folder?

    As for rendering or anti-aliasing - you set FontSmoothing from 0 to 1 in wine regedit
  • molmol August 2010
    Cooool ! Thanks for support !

    So, with office 2000, no need to install add fonts. Just anti-aliasing .

    Simply use the script here :

    wget http://files.polosatus.ru/winefontssmoothing_en.sh
    sh winefontssmoothing_en.sh

    Seen here at the end

    http://www.wine-reviews.net/wine-reviews/tips-n-tricks/how-to-enable-font-anti-aliasing-in-wine.html

    If people can give some feed-back for 2002,2003,2007 and 2010 it will be great.

    Thx 4 all

  • Trixar_zaTrixar_za August 2010
    Yeah, that script is way easier than manutally setting it in wine's regedit. Saw a similar post about the stuff the script is adding @ Wine's wiki site - the Fonts section.

    Some very late ,,thank you, Sir!" to mojo. I was just about to correct the fonts for Slitaz' abiword and felt forced to remember the dark years of Linux (2002-2004), when getting nice looking fonts was really a hazard.
    With your ready package it was done in seconds - I had spent 90' to try to manually apply cabextract and helpers...
