Slitaz 3.0 and Nvidia driver for Xorg.
  • roozeecroozeec May 2010
    Hi All

I've generated an ISO with Slitaz 3.0 with nvidia non-free driver. I add 'nvidia' in the load module of the Rcs.conf file. When booting, I've an error from the insmod program:

    ----------------
    tarting system log deamon: syslogd..
    Starting kernel log daemon: klogd...
insmod: cannot insert '/lib/modules/2.6.30.6-slitaz/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko.gz': unknown symbol in module
modprobe: failed to load module nvidia: No such file or directory
    Detecting PCI devices Kernel modules...
    ! Missing module: nvidia
    * Loaded module: snd_hda_intel
    ! Missing module: nvidia
    * Loaded module: ath9k
    Detecting USB devices Kernel modules...
    Requesting events from the Kernel...
    -------------------------

The nvidia is installed with tazpkg program.

    Manually, the modprobe failed too.

Does anyone know what is the problem ?

    Thanks.

    Update modules.dep
    root@slitaz: depmod -a

    enter
    Verify module exists:
    root@slitaz: modprobe -l | grep -i nvidia

    enter
    Load module
    root@slitaz: modprobe -v nvidia

    enter

If this loads without error maybe a fix would be to add depmod -a
    to /etc/init.d/local.sh

    Hi
    No, still the same...
    messages reports :
    nvidia: Unknown symbol i2c_del_adapter
    nvidia: Unknown symbol i2c_add_adapter

maybe a problem with the nvidia version and the kernel ?

please use tahzw graphical utility or on cli:
    tazhw setup nvidia --non-free

    You are missing linux-agp and/or linux-drm package.

Did you boot into the standard slitaz-3.0.iso
    root@slitaz: tazhw setup nvidia –non-free

and verify the driver worked before you made the custom iso ?

YES: I suspect the problem is with the custom iso.

NO: Try it, if it doesn't work it could be this:
