tazusb troubles on fat32 - Failed to execute login command
  • kultexkultex April 2010
Trying to solve a question on the german forum, I found that creating a fat32 SliTaz usb-stick with the new Tazusb Liveusb Tool ends up with "Failed to execute login command" booting from the stick. Perhaps it was always like this, but older tazusb did not add home=uuid to syslinux.cfg.
As soon as I add a seperate etx3 home partition, evrything works normal.

the error in slim.log direct after first boot (no tux home folder):
/usr/bin/xauth: error in locking authority file /home/tux/.Xauthority
    /bin/sh: can't open /home/tux/.xinitrc
slim: waiting for X server to shut downerror setting MTRR (base = 0xd0000000, size = 0x007b0000, type = 1) Invalid argument (22)
the error in slim.log direct after adding tux home folder:

ps: @jozee if you are reading this, it would be nice if you could look after the "code" error in Vanilla

Kultex, don't get me wrong, i love you!
    Did not thought about syslinux.cfg.
    Thanks a lot

    Kultex,

    use "<pre>" for now.

The forum update is getting delayed as the new Vanilla git version has made few database strucutral changes that need altering some database tables. So, we have been reluctant to carry out any major forum changes till 3.0 . But I think as things settle down and we have more time, we will upgrade Vanilla and hopefully all the lingering problems (like search results) will be fixed.

but the question is - is it a bug? - I found nothing to solve this. If it is like this in SliTaz, then we have to add this to the wiki

    I installed slitaz-3.0.iso with tazusb.exe on a 4gb fat32 sdhc card on my eee pc 900a.
I get "Failed to execute login command" whenever I use home=/dev/sdb1 in syslinux.cfg.
Other live distros that I used didn't have any trouble saving persistent data on the same fat32 usb where they resided.

i solved it by using slitaz-3.0-xvesa.iso.
