Hello I am trying to setup on an old laptop will Slitaz work ? What version ? And will it recognise the pcmica wireless card?

If you have 256mb ram which is the max the L400 will support, you could give stable 3 a shot. I have been able to get it to work on an old Dell laptop with 256mb ram and no swap and it worked just fine. Any lesser, you are better off following @kultex's advice and go with the loram flavor.
