I've been looking for a small LiveCD and after trying SliTaz, I have to say I love it. I noticed there wasn't a privacy version, so I took some time and made one.
I used the standard 3.0 edition to make this, modifying it like so: Removed - LostIRC, soduku, asunder, cdparanoia-III, gcolor2, some others Installed - openssl, tls, xchat Added - Tor Browser Bundle, without Firefox(creates an error message that the browser failed to launch, still works). I created .desktop files for all modified programs, seen in the screenshots below.
NOTES: * TrueCrypt would be wonderful if it can be done without complication. * Tor/Polipo/Vidalia should be made as a single tazpkg. The portable bundle works, why not integrate it into SliTaz so that all the programs can use it without an error message? * The next version of this ISO might be done using the online builder to save space.
I was able to compile Vidalia so that there is no error message. The call functions are there, but the dialog box is gone. I guess one could make a tazpkg and install it to /usr/share/torbundle with a linked executable in /usr/bin. In the meantime, here's the Torbundle with the modified Vidalia:
---------- Captain's Log 1 I didn't change this in the above archive, but you can edit start-tor-browser to add the default lib path and use certain libraries from the repository. I've tested it by installing the available libraries and making the following changes:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${HOME}/Lib LDPATH=${HOME}/Lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${HOME}/Lib:/usr/lib LDPATH=${HOME}/Lib:/usr/lib
This way you can keep the files that aren't available in the Tazpkg repository. Results: libcrypto (Tazpkg works) libQtCore.so.4.6.2 (Tazpkg works) libQtNetwork.so.4.6.2 (Tazpkg works) libssl.so.0.9.8 (Tazpkg works) libQtGui.so.4.6.2 (cooking - wrong filesize: Torbundle=10.8M, Taz=11.0M) libQtXml.so.4.6.2 (cooking - wrong filesize: Torbundle=280.8K, Taz=4.5M) libevent-1.4.so.2.1.3 (not available) libpng14.so.14.3.0 (not available) libcrypto.a (2.2M; is it needed? kept in case) libssl.a (400K; is it needed? kept in case)
The only thing of significance is that libcrypto is 1.3 MB and is already installed in the standard SliTaz, and that's the only space-saving feature. Not to mention that libQtXml is much smaller in the Torbundle, even assuming the tazpkg actually worked.
0.2 was just optimizing the integration(placing Torbundle in /home/tux/.torbundle, sorting the libs), but 0.3 removed unneeded data that got the ISO down to 35MB.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Notes: *Should mtpaint be re-installed? *Peazip Portable might be added in later editions for universal archive + password support. Still sad about the lack of context menus.
Sure is there some other opensource free place for posting it or not ! Is someone especting to pay for download ? I have observed that others also have a strange need to post opensource on filehosting services !
OK ! Lats time i do not have success to download the pice of ... ! I do not like filehosting services for known reasons, terms of use and so on especialy not for open source ! It would be better to post torrent ! this is my opinion ! I will try to download from it, but sure ther will be trouble ! Right now im using slitaz 3.0 and midori and we will see if something changed from yesterday !
