Most annoying bugs list - and out of date Handbook
  • jpegjpeg April 2010
On the openSUSE download page http://en.opensuse.org/Download there is a link to the Most Annoying Bugs list.
Maybe we should put something like that on the wiki next to the Handbook and the Cookbook.
The page could just contain brief descriptions of the problems, e.g. boot liveCD and just get vertical colored lines, and a couple of links to the forum discussions that give solutions. Of course it would be better to add details of the solution, but a link to the forum is better than nothing.

The handbook being a bit out of date, maybe we should start editing the pages just by putting a note at the top. This information refers to Slitaz 2.0.
That would be a start, and it would help newcomers.

A "last edited on" timestamp would help.

Take this as an example http://doc.slitaz.org/en:handbook:xwindow
The last edited note is at the bottom of the page in small grey characters. Not exactly the first place to look and the 26th of feb isn't that old.

So it *really* isn't clear that the info applies to Slitaz 2.0 not to Slitaz 3.0

Ok, I've edited that much, the rest of the page ought to be checked, at first glance it seems ok to me, but I'm not an expert.

An excellent idea, imho; any work on docs is invaluable. There's a considerable number of forum posts that are essentially duplicates and I reckon an FAQ-type page would help greatly. It may be nice to wait for the developers to okay the placement of it, but perhaps something like:
    http://doc.slitaz.org/en:cookbook:MostAnnoyingBugs or
    http://labs.slitaz.org/wiki/distro/MostAnnoyingBugs

On a related note, I think a sweep through of docs would generally help. I've just sent a message* to the mailing list proposing a 'Summer of Docs'-type sprint. It's in the same vein as this but with a wider focus, hence why I've posted elsewhere. This could serve as the starting point, however.

@slicel -- The wiki contains a 'last modified' in the footer but no, the html docs don't. The default footer on the remains at © 2008!

seawolf: How about creating an FAQ page in the guides section: http://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:faq ?

Edit: MostAnnoyingBugs list must be on the labs wiki/issue tracker.
