[SOLVED] Packages Manager behind a proxy
  • GearheadGearhead October 2010
Does anyone know the way to set-up Packages Manager behind a proxy server?
    I'm using a static IP.
    Thanks

i don't understand what you mean, if you can get internet you should be right.

Behind a proxy server (using a static IP) I get internet fine.
The only way I can recharge tazpkg is to open xterm, enter the lines

    export ftp_proxy=”http://(my proxy settings:port)”
    export http_proxy=”http://(my proxy settings:port)”

Then I can tazpkg recharge, get-install....only through that xterm window and only while it is open.
It will not connect through Packages Manager, even if I have that xterm window open.
All my work has been through xterm so far since Packages Manager won't connect.

sorry, i've never opened the gui
why don't you export those variables system-wide through /etc/profile?

    Thanks ernia,
Putting the variables in the /etc/profile file worked for xterm but without the quotes....

    export ftp_proxy=http://(my proxy settings:port)
    export http_proxy=http://(my proxy settings:port)

but it only worked in xterm not the GUI, for that I had to put the same settings in /etc/slitaz/tazpkg.conf file.

Now it works fine, I just have to remember to remove it when i use this laptop with a DHCP.
    Thanks again
