Hello i am having some problems getting the sound to work on Slitaz 3.2 Some things you should know: i am running the OS from USB flash drive. I have speakers connected to the audio port in the back (no usb connection). I am getting no sound i have configured the soundcard by typing the command "soundconf" but am still getting no audio. What should i do? please help me as i am new to this.
What does soundconf identify your soundcard as ? Does command lspci show your soundcard ? What is your soundcard chip, does slitaz have the module, does lsmod show that it's loaded ? Can you open alsamixer ? Are all playback levels up full, nothing muted? Install alsa-utils.tazpkg Post output from:
okay following the order you posted: 1. When i type soundconf command it gives me the following: http://i55.tinypic.com/20qfl9v.png 2. Command lspci shows this : multimedia audio controler : creative labs sb audigy. 3.i am not sure what my soundcard chip is but i know that it worked with WinXP 4-5.Alsamixer shows the following: http://i55.tinypic.com/1xkci.png 6.alsa-utils was installed 7.aply -l gives me the following output: http://i51.tinypic.com/21zorb.png
thanks in advance for the help, and sorry about the images (too lazy to type)
It appears that soundconf has detected and installed two (2) sound devices. Device 0 as shown by alsamixer F2 /proc/asound/cards is INTEL ICH7 Plug your speakers into the audio out of "other" soundcard and you should get sound. If you have no second soundcard and soundconf won't allow you to configure just one card on your system indicated by lspci: Open alsamixer F6 choose device 1 SB Audigy 2.Verify sound levels up, no mute. Determine device name for SB Audigy:
aplay -L
My awe32 sb16 is default:CARD=S16 yours is likely similar. This command opens alsaplayer designating output to SB Audigy
alsaplayer -d default:CARD=S16
alsaplayer will open, add a sound file, should play. If you have an onboard sound chip turn it off in the bios, so soundconf won't detect it.
