Package suggestions
  • devl547devl547 September 2010
Here you may post packages you wish to be included in slitaz repo.
Please, stay away from suggesting packages with heavy dependencies on gnome/kde.

the only thing I really miss in SliTaz is ardour - (no idea, if it runs nice without a realtime kernel??)

and I am quite fine with burnbox and graveman - but I found recorder http://code.google.com/p/recorder/ - I think it could replace graveman (because graveman is shitty with dvds) - I had no time to test it in arch until now
  • devl547devl547 September 2010
Ardour.. It runs without RT kernel, but MAY be laggy. I think, i'll add rt-sources to wok too.

So.. recorder, ardour and rt-sources. added to my list, will push to wok asap.
  • kultexkultex September 2010
thx a lot - I am looking forward to kick pure:dyne out of my laptop and here is the forum-thread for recorder - the echo was very good

i'd quite like to use plowshare, it's useful for downloading off of rapidshare etc

    http://code.google.com/p/plowshare/

not sure if it depends on anything heavy, not very good at that stuff so sorry if it's a poor suggestion

I'd like to use fbi to view images on a command-line only install

added rt-source and recorder to wok.
    now compiling fbida.
As for ardour - I'll have hard time writing receipt for it cause of huge number of dependencies.
  • kultexkultex September 2010
devl547 - I believe in you and I suffer with you, I have tried it once by myself in a very reduced debian, but I faild - perhaps this will help?

It would be really awesome if we can get Go-Oo instead of/along with OpenOffice3. OpenOffice's limited compatibility with M$Office creates a lot of issues when working with customers/vendors.

Currently, have to RDC into a Windows box at work just to get a document updated so it can be sent to a customer (who is on Msoffice :|) and that can be a significant pain especially when mobile.

If I knew how to create a package, I would have done it myself (actually I tried converting all the RPMs to tazpkg, reckon it was way beyond my skills :(! ).
  • ms3811ms3811 September 2010
Not quite sure on Go-Oo's dependencies, my apologies if this doesn't make sense here.
  • Trixar_zaTrixar_za September 2010
It has similar dependancies to OpenOffice.org 3 - Actually it's a fork with bug, feature and compatibility fixes that wasn't added to the main OOo 3.
  • ms3811ms3811 September 2010
Makes sense, considering its Novell cozying up to M$. But that's the real world. So, any chance I can get my hands on get-Go-Oo.tazpkg?
  • devl547devl547 September 2010
    added fbida to wok.
About ardour - too mush dependencies. Compiling them one by one.
About go-oo - i'll try to package it.
  • ms3811ms3811 September 2010
devl547 -- if you can, that would be of enormous help. thank you.
  • devl547devl547 September 2010
ms3811, looks like go-oo build system was written by some drunk programmer long ago - it's really complicated and illogical)
Successfully compiled it (with minimal dependencies) and run, now trying to write a receipt.
  • Trixar_zaTrixar_za September 2010
@devl547 - you don't happen to know how effective tazpkg convert is? I just converted over Visualboy Advance, Vistualboy Advance GTK (front end) and the libglademm package it needed from Ubuntu - not sure how effective it will be for other people though.
  • ms3811ms3811 September 2010
devl547 -- thanks again. if you need me to test something just let me know.
  • devl547devl547 September 2010
    >you don't happen to know how effective tazpkg convert is?

It is. But we are talking about writing receipts and adding them to repository.

Would be so nice to run Lyx on slitaz. (http://www.lyx.org). But I have no idea how heavy it is to make it...

    :-)
  • seawolfseawolf September 2010
    Lyx's deps. are: http://www.lyx.org/AdditionalSoftware
It's a Python-powered Qt application, with optionals over required deps.

Reading http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/lyx/ I think we just need 'texlive-core' though we have 'texinfo' -- I'm not sure if they are the same.
  • ms3811ms3811 September 2010
@devl547 -- once you package go-oo would it be available on the stable reps or cooking? no urgency, just checking.

    PCManFM Mod - http://sourceforge.net/projects/pcmanfm-mod/

It's the 0.5.2 version with modifications to include things such as adding user-commands that support unzipping 7z/rar files. If PCManFM can be edited by itself to support this, then it renders the Mod version moot to me. My main concern is having a simple integrated gui that can unzip passworded 7z/rar archives.

Hello i'm new in the forum.
Someone knows how to install gnome or kde4 in Slitaz? I already install xfce and works very fast, so i was thinking in something heavier (and better looking too).
    Thanks!

PD: I hope you can understand my english. I'm from Argentina.
