how to change desktop resolution in slitaz?

also tell what this slitaz mean?

Add to the Modes lines in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, unless you using the XVesa flavour?
You may also have luck adding "SCREEN=1024x768x24" to your GRUB boot-loader 'kernel' line.

It normally runs at the best resolution it can find, though.

SliTaz stands for: Small, LIght, Temporary, Autonomous Zone.

    HIH.

almost, it's for SUPER light temporary autonomous zone, yeah.

try running tazx in terminal, and try this wiki in this post:

    http://forum.slitaz.org/index.php/discussion/1069/guide-for-xorg-troubles-low-resolution-fallback-to-slim-or-to-text

last time everything broke down I did in the command line:

lspci (---to check out what driver you need, pretty much end of list)
    su
tazhw setup nvidia (---I use nvidia driver)

say yes, yes, yes, yes -- it downloaded everything I needed & after I had right resolution..

yeah, Slitaz ignored the boot option for 800x600x16 for me too and defaulted to a very high resolution. i hand-configured what is below into /etc/X11/xorg.conf as a subsection to Section "Screen":

    Subsection "Display"
    Depth 16
    Modes "800x600"
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
