No sound in cooking [SOLVED]

I had Slitaz on this laptop before and sound was working (its an intel card). I had to reinstall post hdd failure. Now there is no sound. tazhw detect-pci loads snd_hda_intel. cat /proc/asound/cards shows 0 [Intel] : HDA-Intel...
Not sure what's going on. Can anyone point me as to where to start looking? Thanks.
