Is there a power setting or some other setting that would disconnect my wifi adapter after it has been idle. As long as I am active its fine. This has happened with two different cards, one Alfa usb the other Linksys pci. Both using the RTL8180 driver. Under Windows they run all day. Any help would be great as this is a pain restarting it all the time. Thanks
My mistake the Alfa does have the rtl8187 chip and the Linksys has the rtl8180 chip. Still looks like the ubuntu forum hasn't solved the problem ether. Pinging a site works, like keeping my gmail account open, but it is not a fix. It is a pain when working in xterm. I'm hoping to find a card with a different chip and see if that works. Also I tried it in two different brand laptops, same cards same problem. So I would think the bios setting would not effect them.
