computer: Dell Latitude cpi wireless USB adapter: linksys Model# wusb54gp my experience with linux: i have successfully installed ubuntu, open solaris, open suse, fedora, vector and now SliTaz. i have mastered none.
i cannot for the LIFE OF ME figure out how to make the system detect this thing. if i were on windows, i would go to device manager and access it from there, but i dont know the equivalent here.
ive searched google for multiple hours trying different things, but i dont know if its my lack of experience with linux, or faulty information. (probably me).
ive also tried this on sun virtual box (with windows XP sp3 host)
heres my question: 1. is this compatible? 2. is there a forum or guide you know of that already has an answer? 3. should i give up, get a whap-a-frap-a-chino from starbucks, kiss steve jobs ass, and buy a mac? *shudder*
Install usbutils and linux-wireless Go here: http://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:wifi-easy Scroll down to this: Detailed Instructions Identifying your hardware (Which wifi card do I have?) If your card is an usb one, you'll need lsusb which is available in the package usbutils:
Just an FYI, there is an equivalent application under System Tools in the menu, called 'System Information'. It is a presentation of commands such as 'lspci'.
(I'm *very* surprised that neither Fedora, SuSE nor Ubu saw it in NetworkManager but there you go.)
