kernel update crash

hi there!
i recently installed, SliTaz GNU/Linux cooking-20100314.
am i suppose to update the kernel?
if i "recharge lists" with the "packages manager" it forces to update the kernel while installing other applications, like virtualbox in this case. but after kernel upgrade, x-window's login screen halts and stops responding. just wondering which is the right order to do things...

I was faced to the same problem as described here:

Was not able to fix it. Then I switched back to slitaz3_stable which works like a charm. Even after upgrading.
Sorry for not helping, but something is definitely wrong with last cooking. It would be nice if devs guys would investigate on this.
