Is there a way to boot a flash drive install from cd?
  • Ok, this is a Dell Inspiron 4000 Pentium 3 laptop with no hard drive that I've been playing with a puppy frugal usb install. Since the bios on this box does not support boot from usb I had to boot from floppy or from cd with the code puppy pmedia=usbflash.

Puppys nice and all but I want to check out slitaz (especially after I finally figured out how to get my wireless working) but I have a sneaking suspicion that booting from a slitaz disk and typing puppy pmedia=usbflash is going to do nothing for me. I have installed slitaz on a 16 G flash drive. Does anyone know how to boot this on a box too old to boot it?

    Thanks

Plop will detect the USB and chainload the bootloader you have on your USB flash drive.

I've used it with syslinux/frugals and grub/full installs

    7. Running without harddisk installation from Floppy, CD, etc...
  • Thank you very much. I'll check it out. Quick response!
