Wow! Slitaz is so lean and fast! The liveCD (3.0) sees all my hardware and boots up quick. It was pretty easy getting online with pppoe-setup and making some small changes with the package manager. So far, I'm very favorably impressed with Slitaz Linux 3.0!
A couple of questions, though: /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/ppp/resolv.conf lose their configuration each time I go off my DSL connection (pppoe-stop); what's up with that, and how can I get the configuration to persist during a session? Also, I'm not sure of some of the terminology regarding installation; would a Frugal install give a place to store changes I've made during a session and still boot to RAM? Am I correct that the running from RAM option disappears with HDD install?
Oh, and could I drop a preferred xorg.conf file from another distro (Brogdan R's excellent Nimblex 2008) into Slitaz and that configuration be recognized?
TIA for any help and kudos on a fine Linux distribution!
I somehow managed to satisfy my own questions. Adding the DNS addresses during pppoe-setup instead of choosing the "server" option - as was my habit with other distros - makes connecting and disconnecting from internet through my DSL modem no problem.
I tried dropping in a working xorg.conf from another distro, but that did not work. Slitaz 3.0 ignores my attempts at boot to define a screen resolution, but I'll work that out manually somehow. RTFM, and all that, I suppose?
Slitaz has presented me with some challenges, but it's an awesome distribution. Thanks for making it available!
