Go-Oo (http://go-oo.org) would be very helpful. Takes the incompatibilities between OpenOffice3 and MSOffice out, very helpful in the business world where everyone seems to be stuck with MSOffice.
Streamtuner ... I've been using Streamtuner for a long time in Debian. It's comfortable to use and works very well. With MPlayer as back-end it decodes and plays practically every type of stream. Since many (probably most) people have MPlayer installed anyway it is also a rather small application that won't bloat SliTaz. http://www.nongnu.org/streamtuner/
Radio Tray ... ... is a new application that's basically just a tray icon. It looks cute and works well but is possibly not quite as small as it looks as it uses Gstreamer and is built on Python/Gtk. http://radiotray.sourceforge.net/
Decibel ... ... is another of my favorites that I have been using since its very beginning. It is a simple but comfortable directory player that's ideal to navigate and play large music collections without having to bother with playlists. It, too, is built on Python/Gtk. http://decibel.silent-blade.org/
I would find bibus a very useful package. I have tried a few times converting it from .deb but didnt work either time. I always have to go to my desktop computer to insert references into my work... or use lubuntu, but that really eats my processor...

Edit > sorry for the double post, it told me error so i clicked post again!
rt73usb firmware for usb wifi adapters could be great also, since they are pretty common. Though following instructions given before on the forum is not impossible, but including the module would be a time saver.
Sorry for the duplicated posts, my bad. Forum threw me an error, so I made a new one, applying again the "Post comment" button. (not a great way to start in the forums) All my apologies. Anyway I edited the duplicated messages with new content, sorry again. Keep up with your fantastic work, so far Slitaz really has been a wonderful discovering for me, right now is powering an ancient Compaq Presario 1278 wonderfully, now I'm just thinkering around the video driver for its Trindet card, but with Slitaz sky is truly the limit. Congratulations to all the dev team.
I believe the wireless card firmware is included in the 2.6.33+ kernels as they started shipping "staging" (experimental) drivers by default. This was why I compiled my own 2.6.34 kernel a while ago.
devl547 > Hi, how can I get a downloadable Slitaz package from the receipt in wok-undigest section of HG repository (concerning The Mana World) please ?
@babaorum - I'm working on conversions of the packages for TMW. I'm using Mana 1.0.0-beta2 and ManaPlus at the moment. I just need to spend the time and convert over the requirements (3 packages which are not in the repository) and hopefully make it easier for other people to play this game.
The Iron browser would be great, Chrome without the google spyware, I have successfully installed it in Ubuntu, and Puppy now offers it as a package, fast fast fast in Linux, way faster than Firefox and very lightweight.
scrotwm is a lightweight tiling wm, like dwm, but configurable.
(i want this more than anything. while busy beavering away learning about the wok n stuff so i could "help myself" get scrotwm, i came across this thread.)
a beautiful simple little audio file sequencer, akin to the likes of the e-jay series, but simpler.
(very impressed it's in arch... for years it was just suse it was available as a binary for. i've yet to find anything that meets my needs better since i found it in 2004)
PS, @ op, i couldnt figure out how to add/raise an issue on http://labs.slitaz.org/issues ... am i just unobservant/dense?
Hi i was thinking that adding a package for "airoscript" would be a good idea because aircrack-ng is already in the repositories, it's pretty small and doesn't need many dependencies.
Also beacause there are also related packages like kismet or macchanger

Also was thinking of wlandecrypter and jazzteldecrypter, in the same way
I don't know Linux package names, but I've been looking for a podcast receiver and can't find one. I mean something like Juice (on Windows) that will sit in the background and check for podcasts on a schedule.
@Gokhlayeh: Downloaded it, doesn't work; any ideas? During installation there was an error message about not being able to find python-mygpoclient (though I don't think that matters), but the problem with the installation process from a command line is that you're limited to the height of the screen in terms of what messages you can see as they shoot upwards. There may have been something else that didn't install but disappeared off the top of the screen. I find Linux software installation soooooooooo frustrating -- it still has a long way to go before it matches the ease of use of Windows or Apple.
I'm running 3 stable, not cooking -- I've had enough of crashy software!
[SHIFT] + [PgUp]/[PgDn] will allow you to scroll through the buffer of the terminal client. You can also enable scroll bars for xterm by modifying the file .Xdefaults (it's hidden, in PCManFM, [CTRL]+[H] toggles hidden on/off) in your /home/username folder. Just set the parameter xterm*scrollBar: on. I am assuming you are using xterm.
@xmfclick: Not all packages are hard to install like that. For example Mint Linux and PCLinuxOS are pretty easy considering, but they were made with the intent to be easy to use. To make the gpodder work, I think you need to install python though.
Now SliTaz is a little weird in that regard. It's somewhere between beginner and developer level. It's not exactly the easiest, most user friendly or feature rich Linux out there, but if your up for a challenge, then it's pretty simple to learn. I know it pushed my limits when I started - and I came from 2 years on Ubuntu before. I would remember using a better terminal though. I LOVE Sakura myself and it's available in stable and cooking :D
Dependencies aren't always that simple nor just a solely Linux problem. Remember with Windows you also get programs that requires .NET or the Visual Basic files. Sometimes you'll need some obscure dll file to make things work and don't forget needing the latest DirectX to make most 3D programs work well. Drivers themselves are a dependency in themselves. Windows requires you to find and download these things yourself. With a package manager, downloading the one package, normally finds and installs it required dependencies. So to me that is a one up on Windows - if you ask me ;)
@xmfclick : gpodder is compiled for cooking. Some missing depends exists only in cooking too. As stable & cooking doesn't use the same version of python, and as python is not compiled against the same version of the other packages, there's no simple way to install gpodder in stable. SliTaz repositories are growing over the time so the conterpart of stability - 3.0 - is that less packages are available. If you really want gpodder, maybe you can give a try too cooking which's actualy relatively stable. An other solution can be compile the needed packages for stable.
Hi again, sorry for that triple post up there, i was receiving an error message. Anyway, i saw that there are some data recovery software like dd_rescue or foremost and was thinkin if there was the possibility of adding "magicrescue". It is an excelent piece of software and would be great to have it together with the other apps,
dkms would be very useful especially for better integration with virtualbox. Personally would like to have lingot instrument tuner. Lingot converted form Debian Lenny works flawless on stable, better then on Debian :). On Lenny it crashes every ten minutes.
easystroke is a gesture-recognition application (i can't use an os without gestures, when you start using this can't live without) http://easystroke.sourceforge.net/
BaShare is a http server with a graphical user interface (GUI). Select a file, give the link to your friends and they will be able to download the file from you. BaShare is very useful during chat sessions! http://code.google.com/p/bashare/
BUC transform a bash script in a linux application with gui! easy and light. http://buc.opensource.tk/
Rather than adding more and more packages : Why not concentrate all the efforts towards integreating deeply : 1 FileManager,1 InternetBrowser, 1 MultimediaPlayer into Slitaz ?
In other words, what's the sense to have 5 Players, 5 Browsers ?
One can start, for exemple, to reprogram Midori, Pcmanfm and a video player in the way they will share that most as possible. (Gtk is the first I have in mind)
Make slitaz the most minimum and stable but offering the basic services a user wants to have for it.
I think trying to add more and more package, and manage more and more dependies will bring the project to evaporate into a cloudy concept.
One should focus on the fact that we don't expect Slitaz to become a full alternaltive of Windows or Ubuntu , but rather something extremely optimised, fast and stable for Internet and Watchings Multimedia.
In my opinion it's a waste of time to try to bring such heavys things such as Office's Suite, Games.. etc etc .. as you won't find a single user who has only a single Slitaz as OS (no Windows, no Ubuntu)
"r128" for proper Ati rage support would be very much appreciated. although there is basic rage support (at least for my Rage Mobility p/m agp2x rev:64) in the xorg Ati driver on the repo.
Slitaz is my ONLY OS on 2 laptops, 1 HTPC and 1 Home NAS server not everyone is using slitaz on acient pc's or via virtual pc's, etc
hi i was thinging that adding ""Autopsy"" would be great as as they say at their site: the Autopsy Forensic Browser is a graphical interface to the command line digital investigation tools in the sleuth kit. Together, they allow you to investigate the file system and volumes of a computer.
@mol: please consider that different peoples have different view about how SliTaz should evolve. I'm not saying that SliTaz Core should not be as good it can: of course it should; But peoples using SliTaz has their primary distro can need openoffice or some prefered apps; some packagers are interseted about adding new packages, why not ? Some other people put the focus on core, or on various aspect of the distro... great :)
@deagon: Maybe I can contribute about a better graphic card support, please contact me by mail at gokhlayeh at slitaz period org to try and find solution about your particular hardware - nobody can improve a distro for a hardware he don't own ;)
i´m trying to install pyload (from http://pyload.org). its a tiny downloadmanager with the same functions like jDownloader. i have some problems with the installation becouse i´m not a pro ;-) wold be nice if the repo had pyload :-)
linEAK and/or some other application that allows easy Multimedia Keys configuration would be cool.
@gokhlayeh Nah its ok, turns out mesa-dri-ati supports hardware acceleration with my gfx card and i opened my mouth way before i had tried it. still, 'r128' would be of benefit to some other users and i see its already in cooking.
