I am trying to compile / install TWM-1.0.4 [crazy I know] - I thought it was part of Xorg but cant find it anywhere so I downloaded source from Xorg. This is what configure spits out :-

--
checking for TWM... configure: error: Package requirements (x11 xext xt xmu ice
sm) were not met:

No package 'x11' found
No package 'xext' found
No package 'xt' found
No package 'xmu' found
No package 'ice' found
No package 'sm' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables TWM_CFLAGS
and TWM_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Any help where to go / what to do next would be appreciated!

Multiboot http://vanilla.slitaz.org/index.php?p=/discussion/186/multiboot Sun, 15 Nov 2009 13:57:34 +0100 ChrisMoss 186@/index.php?p=/discussions
Slitaz
kernel (hd1,3)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.25.5-slitaz root=/dev/sdb4

This setup starts to boot then halts with the following message:

Kernel panic - not syncing : VFS : unable to mount rootfs on unknown block(0,0)

I have tried copying the rootfs.gz from the Live CD to the boot folder but I still get the same error. I have read on some forums about needing to compile the IDE driver to the kernel but not sure if this is relevant. I have also seen a comment about memory modules but as I am currently sending this from the same machine that sounds unlikely.

Any suggestions how to fix this would be gratefully received.

Thanks

My question is - I installed Slitaz 2 from CD onto hard disc partition then added my XPP partition for dual boot. I then tweaked Slitaz, added stuff, added nvidia driver, tweaked my xorg.conf and now have a nice desktop.

So, if I want to update all the packages to their latest - is that possible with one command?

Or do I have to start again? Or wait for Slitaz 3.0 and install fresh? How do updates work in Slitaz?]]>

Slitaz Wallpaper Resolution Picker http://vanilla.slitaz.org/index.php?p=/discussion/230/slitaz-wallpaper-resolution-picker Thu, 26 Nov 2009 01:28:22 +0100 spork 230@/index.php?p=/discussions This prevents wallpaper stretching, though your wallpaper will be needed to be saved in 3 formats (4:3, 5:4, and 8:5 ratios).

The script is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/758367/rezpick.sh

Installation Instructions

1: Make your 3 wallpapers and save it in /usr/share/images. Their default names in the script is 43_wallpaper.jpg (4:3 ratio), 54_wallpaper.jpg (5:4 ratio), and 85_wallpaper.jpg (8:5 ratio). Of course, you may change the script to match your filenames too.

2: Save the script somewhere (wherever you want it)

3: Set the script to be executable, and start it while you are logged in (this is _not_ a boot-up script, sorry).

4: Run the script, and it will choose a wallpaper that won't stretch or shrink on your screen (you may try this by making perfect-circle wallpapers)

Limitations

* This hasn't been set up to use Xorg (yet).

* The script can only choose the resolutions in it. While this isn't complex, it can't detect the display ratio if you have a wacky resolution.

Please try it, and improve it too (I know most of it can be done simpler, so...)!]]>

Today I have tried downloading aircrack-ng and the backtrack but found the bandwidth to be unreliable. BackTrack even took 14 times to download. Maybe this is because of the number of people downloading the file at once, or maybe its just bad bandwidth. Anyway, I have created several download mirrors from various file hosts in various countries to help. Most of these file mirrors are reliable and very fast. Using these mirrors will also save AirCrack's bandwidth.

You can view all the mirrors at http://totalmirrors.blogspot.com/

I am trying to compile Denemo 0.8.10, and I got this error message:

configure: error: guile required but not found

In the SliTaz Package Manager GUI, I did not find a package called guile. But when I look at the cooking packages on http://pkgs.slitaz.org/cooking/development.html I see one called guile-1.8.7.tazpkg. How do I get the SliTaz Packages Manager GUI to install it?

In an identical problem, I want to know how to install Pidgin 2.6.3 from the cooking packages.

Later I might need more help with compiling, but in the words of Archie Bunker, "We'll burn that bridge when we come to it."

Thanks for helping the new guy with SliTaz.
