Install issues

I loaded Slitaz to a 4.3gig hd labaled hdb and partitioned it to hdb1 and in gparted it shows that the partition has something there But it wont mount the HD and on reboot I get a code 21 But I cant find the Grub list even though the installer says it loaded and dont know how to change it so it see's HDb1

How do you add time zones?

Bonjour,
Voilà bine longtemps que je n'étais revenu sur le forum car SLITAZ fonctionnais a merveille sur ma vieille bécane. Jusqu’à ce que mon pied écrase ma clé WIFI. j'en ai donc racheté une plus petite pour éviter ce genre d'aléas !
Mais voilà je ne parviens pas à la faire fonctionner. En plus je ne sais plus trop comment faire. Apparemment il me faut le module rt2870 que je n'ai pas et je ne parviens pas à l'installer. je ne sais plus comment on fait et je m'en remet donc une nouvelle fois a vos compétences.
merci d'avance.
Et cette clé pas d'internet donc galère en perspective.

Rafraichir la table des partitions

Bonjour,

J'ai un léger souci avec SliTaz 3.0 :) . Je souhaite formater une partition en ext3 (préalablement formaté en ntfs ou autre):

mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1

Le formatage s'effectue bien car dans Gparted ma partition est bien
en ext3, cependant avec un fdisk -l la partition ne se met pas à jour,
le système de fichier reste ntfs. Même après un redémarrage système et
même après un partprobe /dev/sda1.

Lorsque je formate avec gparted tout va bien, le fdisk -l indique
bien le changement, mais je souhaite le faire en ligne de commande.

En fait l'installation de grub ne se fait pas si je formate avec mkfs (...not read stage1)

Im not a tech guy or anything but can understand simple computer languages :D
I followed the instructions
1.Su
2.root
3.# tazpkg get-install get-flash-plugin
4.# get-flash-plugin

it came up with this message : root@slitaz : /home/tux# get-flash-plugin
connecting to fpdownload.macromedia.com ( numbers )
wget : can't open 'install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz' : File exists

Any help here ? Thank you :D

Error installing Skype

In the cooking Slitaz version installed on HDD, making a

tazpkg get-install skype

the process, after successfully downloaded skype_static-2.1.0.81.tar.bz2, exit with this error:

Could not download getskype-linux-beta-static. Exiting.

any idea ?

Bonjour, je viens vous proposer un patch pour que l'upgrade de Busybox ne freeze pas le système
En effet lorsque j'ai upgrader ma cooking j'ai eu un freeze

ce que je propose est un script shell que voici:

Ativar o slim na inicialização [resolvido]

É o seguinte pessoal, no grub antes de entar no slitaz, eu resolvi testar editar a linha de boot para iniciar uma vez pelo modo texto, assim eu coloquei o parametro screen=text. Era para ser só naquela inicialização, mas agora toda vez que abre o slitaz, ele começa em modo texto, e tenho que ficar logrando como root e digitando slim. Fazer isso toda vez é meio inseguro... Sabem como faço ele voltar ao normal? E outra, seria possivel eu cofigurar o slim para abrir também com o usuário tux (apenas se isso também não comprometer a segurança)?

Até que acho legal lograr primeiro em modo texto, mas não é muito recomendado pelo que me lembre ficar digitando a senha de root até quando não pretendo alterar nada do sistema. Por exemplo, só navegar na net.

J'apprécie Slitaz pour sa rapidité, clarté et beauté. Mais je constate que les inévitables logiciels complémentaires pour surfer ou travailler normalement (flash..) doivent être chargés en plus. Existe-t-il une liste exhaustive qui indique les paquets à charger pour être définitivement tranquille ? Ne serait-il pas possible d'avoir un script qui permette de tout charger directement si on le souhaite. Et, on peut rêver, une option du menu qui permette de la faire automatiquement ?

j ai deja essayer de metre slitaz 3 , loram, loram-cdrom mais a chaque fois j ai une erreu (isolinux disq error 14 ax=422b drive 9f)

Installation auf einem Neoware TC klappt nur halb

Hallo.
Ich versuche Slitaz 3 auf einem Neoware TC CA10 (BL-A3-EK) zu installieren.
Daten: VIA-Prozessor, 512 MB Flash (HDD), 512 MB RAM

Per Live-USB und -CD klappt alles wunderbar, Desktop wird angezeigt, ich starte den Installer und gebe die notwendigen Infos ein.
Nach erfolgreicher Installation starte ich neu.
Es erscheint GRUB, ich wähle Slitaz, es wird geladen, meldet einige dubiose Fehler (siehe Logs) und ich lande bei einem Konsolen-Login.
Wenn ich mich da anmelde und mit startx versuche die GUI aufzurufen meldet er:

pcmanfm: error while loading shared libraries: libpango-1.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/openbox-session: /root/.config/openbox/autostart.sh: line 8: ivman: not found
dbus-launch: error while loading shared libraries: libSM.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
sed: /root/.config/lxpanel/default/panels/panel: No such file or directory
lxpanel: error while loading shared libraries: libX11.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Hat da vielleicht jemand einen Tip?
Am system kann's ja irgendwie nicht liegen, oder?
Da der Live-Betrieb einwandfrei klappt (auch mit Puppy z.B.)

I am getting a blank screen

I have installed Slitaz cooking 20110329 on my USB.
I have a laptop with 15inch wide screen and Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family graphics card.
When i boot the slitaz I get 1024x768 resolution as i am using vesa drivers.
following the guide at http://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:xorg-xvesa , I Installed intel video drivers, but after that what i got is blank screen and can not do anything except going to terminal with ctrl-alt-backspace. But in terminal I can see that the resolution has changed as the font size in terminal becomes small.

Mein Status: blanker Linux-Anfänger. (und Slitaz sowieso)

Ich hab Slitaz auf das Notebook meiner Süßen installiert weil das alte XP kaputt war.

Bei mir zuhause kann ich ohne jedes zutun über Kabel Deutschland online gehen, einfach durch öffnen des Browsers (Internet übers Fernseh-Kabel).

Sie hat aber einen Versatel-Anschluss mit Versatel-Box und darangehängtem DSL-Modem. Bei dem alten XP musste man sich durch klicken auf ein Icon einwählen um online zu gehen. Es muß eine Benutzerkennung - Benutzer@versatel.de - und ein Password übertragen werden.

Meine Versuche über Slitaz' Netbox etwas zu erreichen, schlugen fehl. Die Lektüre des deutschen und englischen Forums brachte keine Lösung und sogar mein Buch 'Linux für Einsteiger' bringt in der Hinsicht nix.

Ich hoffe, jemand von Euch hat Erbarmen und erlöst mich aus meiner quälenden Unwissenheit. Danke.

I recently installed xfce4-plugin-wavelan from a deb package obtained from a deb repository and a xfce4-cpugraph plugin also from the same repository. I'd like to understand the mechanism for asking for a package to be included in the distribution and for its maintenance to be done. Are there any licensing issues we have to be aware of in these cases?

Slitaz created a new forum without old posts when it started vanilla and it created a great deal of unnecessary work in re-answering questions answered elsewhere. At least this forum is still accessible (unlike the old forum) but people will have to (or be told to) search both forums in addition to multiple manuals.

Just downed the new cooking iso after seeing the announcement on Distrowatch, taking for a test spin now and wanted to duly report a couple minor things, but first I want to say BRAVO! Excellent work! New iso is the first to boot without any options or having to use xvesa on a sometimes finicky older machine I have, booted fast, very configurable, package manager worked fast and without flaw, ethernet connected immediately and flawlessly, all partitions mounted, there is now a working version of Iron (I just prefer Chromium or Iron for my browser) so I installed it, typing this message on it now. Y'alls hard work and dedication shows, this is the best Slitaz yet!

So just a couple small issues, and i'm not complaining at all, just giving feedback. It can't seem to find my second CD/DVD ROM, so can't play a plain CD so far. And the second just seems a little backwards, Slitaz mounted my other linux partitions, but when I look in the files, I can access all the system files (boot,bin, lib, usr etc.) but cannot access my /home/(user) files, it gives me a "permission denied" message. Seems like that should maybe be the other way around?

Okay, will test more and search documentation to see if it's just me missing something, probably the case,lol.

Great work guys, this is by far the best tiny linux distro!

J'ai comme projet le deploiement de plusieurs serveurs.
je me suis donc tourné vers ma distrib favorite.

Que vois-je ocsinventory est dans les depots.
je l'installe mais la catastrophe:
=> la version est obsolete 1.02 alors que la dernière est 1.3.3
=> il manque des modules perl. (LWP XML-Simple)

Je vais donc voir une fois ma configuration fonctionnel sur debian pour packagé OCS pour notre distrib favorite.

Hi im new here and just now finally manage to install slitaz to my HDD.
and tbh the howto i found somewhere around here was just terrible....
i booted livecd from USB and ofc when tryin to use the installer it said not found since it goes on auto to cdrom which i wasnt using.
(might be a good idea to set it up so you can choose where to look fir the file needed??)
then it said somewhere that if i was having problem loading cdrom(which ofc i had since i was on USB!) it said to copy to /media/cdrom..sure ill do that.....ohh wait thats a livecd temp dir with ONLY read-only!!!
ok im fresh with linux been at it for 2 weeks but pls explain how one is suppose to copy anything to a read-only dir?
my first linux install was a pure sourcebased distro that ran command line only and i manage to install that...
ended up hving to use my last cd-r i had at home (that i was saving) to burn a file thats 30mb just to be able to install this distro to my hdd......................
second: either upgrade the repo for firefox 4 or atleast make a newbie HOWTO on how to get it installed.
found a post on the forum with a dl link for a newly made package with it so wen and dl it. but then it just said "do a normal tazpkg install firefox-4.0.tazpkg" ok for fresh linux user wtf does that mean? ok so i knew kinda what was ment so i opened terminal typed it in and woohoo that good old no such file or directory....... heres a hint post a HOWTO for basic single installs like : go to the folder where the downloaded file is with cd /directory/directory and so on the full path is needed with the cd command when it says : root@bla/bla/bla# your in the right directory once in there run the tazpkg command, maybe even a step by step guid on how to copy a file in terminal from one directory to another couse i can promise you fresh users that maybe max been tryin ubuntu and such havent got a clue how to do that stuff.

Boot em Notebook - Compac Presario

Tentando instalar o SLitaz versal estavel, durante o processo de boot, interrompe e solicta o login

Entrando como root, e apos o comando startx. Aparece um aviso "screens not found", e não carrega o ambiente grafico.
Checando o xorg.conf , o mesmo possui conteudo da configuração.

Ja tente as opções de boot: slitaz screen=800X600X16 e Slitaz vga=781.
Não encontrei outras opções adequadas para boot em notebook

Slitaz ne détectait pas ma clé usb, en testant différente manip trouvé sur le web j'ai finalement réussi à ce qu'elle se monte automatiquement sur /mnt/cle, j'aimerai maintenant qu'elle se monte sur /media/usbdisk (je suppose que ce répertoire est fait pour ca non?)
Pour ce faire j'ai modifié le fichier fstab et j'ai remplacé "/mnt/cle" par "/media/usbdisk".
La clé est toujours détectée automatiquement mais elle est montée sur /media uniquement et je comprend pas pourquoi ?

Problem getting application to run during boot

Sorry, I know this is a common question, but I couldn't find a solution for SliTaz specifically. I've remastered a SliTaz LiveCD and added my application to it, I then added a line in local.sh to run the application during boot. However, when the program attempts to execute, I get the message "Error: Unable to initialize gtk, is DISPLAY set properly?" I've tried setting DISPLAY and several other solutions, but most of them seem tailored to other distros. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this in SliTaz?

Alternatively, I noticed Openbox has an autostart applications function, but can't seem to find where on the LiveCD the config file is stored or generated from, I think that would also solve my issue. Thanks.

Accessing Java plugin from additionnal Firefox distributions

Hi,
I'm running SliTaz 3.0 stable with Firefox 3.5.7.
I also installed a Firefox distribution in 3.6.x and in 4.x version. I downloaded the tarball from official Mozilla website, untared them into an "apps" subfolder in my home, running them by accessing their "firefox" respective binary ($HOME/apps/firefox-3.6/firefox and $HOME/apps/firefox-4/firefox).

I installed Java on my machine with java-6-jre and then icedtea6-jre (not sure this one was absolutely necessary).
Java plugin does exist and is recognized and usable in native 3.5.7 Firefox distribution, but *not* in my additionnal local Firefox distributions.
Then I made a "plugins" subfolder in each distribution folder and made a symbolic link to the plugin:
libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /usr/lib/java/jre1.6.0_17/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so (as it was already done for system-wide Firefox distribution in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and /usr/lib/firefox-3.5.7/plugins.
Each link belongs to root:root and has all permissions on: chmod a+rwx.
Of course, the original plugin file (in /usr/lib/java/[...]) has right permissions too (same as above).

What else should I do ? Is it known to be able to work ?

Quand j'ouvre Alsaplayer et que je clique sur lire j'ai la fenêtre ci-dessus
le cdrom ne peut être monté.
Je suis sous Slitaz installé sur le disque dur.
