Opera 10.60 and urlfiltrer.ini
  • AarnAarn September 2010
    Hello,

I'm trying to filter some web site with urlfilter.ini.

    I create /home/tux/.opera/urlfilter.ini with :

    [prefs]
    prioritize excludelist=0

    [include]
    http://???.opera.com/*

    [exclude]
    *

    in ~/.opera/operaprefs.ini :

    [Network]
    URL Filter File=$OPERA_PERSONALDIR/urlfilter.ini

but i can always surf all around the web !

Someone did try to use urlfilter.ini with Opera 10 and slitaz 3.0 ?

    Thanks for help

I've been using since years the hosts file from ...

    http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

... which works well to keep ads, banners and all sorts of other rubbish at bay. Besides the different content of the adblock list and the hosts file ... does anyone know if one of the two methods is principally better than the other?

I found the problem with my files. The Opera's urlfilter.ini sample file is wrong
This file doesn't work for me :

    [prefs]
    prioritize excludelist=0

    [include]
    http://???.opera.com/*

    [exclude]
    *

and i replace it with :

    [prefs]
    prioritize excludelist=0

    [include]
    http://???.opera.com/*

    [exclude]
    http://*.*

And i also need too delete the [Network] section in my operaprefs.ini

    Thanks for help
