installing on pentium II, very old (1997)
  • loruelorue July 2010
    Hi everybody
I am trying to install slitaz using a pentiun II from 1997 (AMIBIOS show me this date as release).
I do not know the history of this machine, I do not know the branch, maybe it was assembled manualy by someone.
The video card, is a 3dpro sis 6326, the slot it use is different than others. memory 128+64+32.
The machine works well with others distros as Puppy and Zenwalk, last versions.
The slitaz CD is OK because it install in other new machine (acer).
OK, during the instalation I answer the language, the keymap and everything is OK.
Then, the msg "starting hardware abstraction layer: hall..." appears on the screen.
then, the screen goes blind, 100% blind. blind , blind!
    Could someone help me.
    regards
    Lorue

    To create .xsession, type:
echo "exec Xorg & exec openbox-session" >> .xsession

I think this bug is fixed in more updates but they have not yet made it to an ISO build.

here is the xvesa version of the iso:

    http://mirror.slitaz.org/iso/3.0/flavors/slitaz-3.0-xvesa.md5
    http://mirror.slitaz.org/iso/3.0/flavors/slitaz-3.0-xvesa.iso

use this as a last resort because xorg is much better.
