SOLVED get-virtualbox typo
  • erniaernia April 2010
at line 63 of /usr/bin/get-virtualbox there's a typo which prevents you to install virtualbox.
remove the "+" at the start of the line to get it working
  • jozeejozee April 2010
    Hi ernia,

Can you please copy the line instead of the line?
Line number does not seem to be too helpful because of the patch studded with ++
    See here: http://hg.slitaz.org/wok/file/5b51f26f0750/get-virtualbox
  • erniaernia April 2010
    sorry jozee.
    it's at line 10 of http://hg.slitaz.org/wok/file/5b51f26f0750/get-virtualbox/stuff/installer.u
i think that there should be only one plus in that row, because the final result in get-virtualbox is
    # Add Slitaz support to VirtualBox installer.
    +patch -p1 <<'EOT'<br />--- install-ori/routines.sh Thu Dec 17 14:37:35 2009

the offending plus is the one before patch -p1
  • erniaernia April 2010
not to sound brash but i've checked http://hg.slitaz.org/wok/file/790414b3cf9a/get-virtualbox/stuff/installer.u and i think that now there should be the opposite problem: should not be one + at line 10?
  • teotl31teotl31 April 2010
Not understand, you took away the + and it works? because I take it off and gave me more errors
  • erniaernia April 2010
are you talking about my first post in this topic or my previous post?
if you are editing /usr/bin/get-virtualbox you should find a line like this:
    +patch -p1 <<'EOT'</pre>
remove the plus and you're done.
don't edit the .u patch file, it's not needed. if it does not work reinstall get-virtualbox --forced and edit again get-virtualbox as i told you.
  • teotl31teotl31 April 2010
yes im editing /usr/bin/get-virtualbox and editing this line like this
    patch -p1 <<'EOT'<br />-and reinstall in terminal
    tazpkg get-install virtualbox --forced

    and gave me this error

    creating directory install
    verifyng archive integrity... all good
    uncompressing virtualbox for linux installation...
    patching file routines.sh
    patch: hunk#2 FAILED at 252
path:1 out of 2 hunk FAILED
    patching file vboxdvr.sh
    patch:hunk #1 FAILED at 63
patch:1 out of 1 hunk FAILED

and i dont know whats happen in this case
  • erniaernia April 2010
you are right, i have omitted to specify that after you have edited /usr/bin/get-virtualbox you should run it and not tazpkg get-install virtualbox --forced.
the forced options overwrites files needed to install virtualbox and so it overwrites /usr/bin/get-virtualbox too.
EDIT i'm probably wrong in this first section
if it does not work again and the output of
    ls -la /usr/bin/patch
is a link to busybox then you could try
    tazpkg get-install patch
    and retry
please, let me know if it works.
  • erniaernia April 2010
ok, i can confirm that you need to install the real patch
    tazpkg get-install patch

i've removed both virtualbox and patch and i have same output as you:
    root@slitaz:/home/tux# get-virtualbox
    Connecting to download.virtualbox.org (72.5.124.114:80)
    VirtualBox-3.1.6-593 100% |*************************************************************************************************************************************| 50519k 00:00:00 ETA
    Creating directory install
    Verifying archive integrity... All good.
    Uncompressing VirtualBox for Linux installation.........
