WLAN with Intel PRO Wireless 3945
  • hkjjhkjj February 2010
    hello to everyone,

i'm new here so forgive me i'm a very noob ;) i've just booted my notebook from the slitaz live cd. first of all i wanna say, that i've searched already in the forum here but found no solution for my problem. so here it is:

searching for my wlan-card i found in "Tazhw Box":

    Kernel Module: iwl3945
Description: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux

(there is also some other hardware listed, but no other network devices)

so i thought, that the drivers are already installed correctly... is this right?
Typing "iwconfig" says that my card is "wlan0" and for the others: "no wireless extensions."

starting wifibox it's scanning for networks but there's no network found although in windows there are a lot ;)
what do i have to do to get connected to my AP? which are the right settings in wifibox or what else is the problem?

    please help me ;)
    greetz hkjj

PS: at "drivers" in wifibox i selected "Module: iwl3945" and "Firmware: iwlwifi-3945-firmware". is this right?

You have to download and install the firmware before the module will work.

Otherwise use a computer with internet access to download iwlwifi-3945-ucode-15.28.2.8.tgz from the address listed below, extract to iwlwifi-3945-ucode-2.ucode and place in /lib/firmware Unload/Load iwl3945 module, ifconfig in terminal, the adapter should now be listed.

    Hi,

if you have an active ethernet internet connection:
    type

     tazhw detect-pci --get-firmware

It should automatically download the correct firmware.

    OR

in tazhw box, just click : auto install non-free firmware

Also read the documentation here: http://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:wifi-easy#manually-configure-your-wifi
