The new SliTaz forum is awful ...
  • DarjeelingDarjeeling February 2011
    - On accessing the SliTaz forum pages Opera 10.xx and Opera 11.xx become extremely sluggish while at the same time the CPU fan goes into overdrive.

    - Both Opera versions work just fine on any other page but on the SliTaz forum they regularly freeze for 10+ seconds and more often than not they crash completely.

    - Opera, Firefox and Midori don't render the forum pages correctly. The "Navigation", "Categories", "Slitaz Network" and "Who's Online" panels overlap with the posting list and the posting texts when using the browser's zoom function.

    - The default font on all the SliTaz pages is faaaaar too small ... and using the zoom function to make the pages readable doesn't help as this also decreases the width of the text. By the time I reach the desired font size there's merely one or two words left in a horizontal line.

    - And lastly ... I think the organization of the SliTaz pages could be improved. Why does it take 3 clicks to get from the SliTaz home page to the SliTaz support forum? ... English - Network Map - Support Forum

It looks like it's not only Opera that crashes on the Slitaz forum pages. I just ran Midori 0.2.9 from a Fedora 14 live session ... and this too, first froze for a while and then crashed completely. The crash log is very long but basically it boils down to this ...

    Package:        midori-0.2.9-4.fc14

    Command:        midori

This problem is already well known, maybe no solution is available yet. We are all waiting for an improvement of the forums.
Perhaps a debugged version from Vanilla ?

I've turned JavaScript off in Opera and it's fine. Right click and Edit Site Preferences to apply it to just forum.slitaz.org. In fact, I've viewed, posted and edited this post in O11.

    HIH.

Since yesterday, even Mozilla Firefox is bugging (it has never been true up to now): some JS action keeps on refreshing the page and overcrowns the total RAM consumed of my computer. Turning JS off is now the only solution. As I did not change anything on and around my browser, I think something changed in Vanilla software on *this* board. Whatever you did Admins, this is not really better, sorry. :-(
Slitaz 3.0 stable, Mozilla Firefox 4b10/11.

The board is OK again since today or yesterday w/ Mozilla Firefox 3.5.7, 3.6.13 and 4b11. And much nicer than previously, it seems there has been some graphic improvement too.
    Well done, administrator(s) !
  • DarjeelingDarjeeling February 2011

The forum is usable again, even with Opera. Great! Thanks to the admins! ... and thanks to you, seawolf! I use Slitaz from a customized live CD and I did manually disable JavaScript a couple of times which improved the situation somewhat. But I didn't want to make the change permanent on a new CD as I thought that the forum was going to be updated.

    HI all,

So it seems to be a theme issue, last slitaz theme I did is more than buggy. Now we using the default vanilla theme without any modification but I would like to make it match SliTaz colors, so I will rewrite the SliTaz theme using this default theme as base.

Hope it will be ok and counting on you all to make feedback if anything goes wrong.

    Have a nice day,
    - Christophe

thanks for the fix :) for a while the only browser that allowed me to load the forum was Internet explorer
and happily I don't have to get back to it now :D

I did that a year ago.  I only replaced colors so there was no way to break the forum.  I even uploaded a screenshot as my icon but someone deleted it.

  • slicelslicel March 2011
The forum would log me in but then log me out when I clicked a post yesterday.

The forum is very slow yesterday and today on high-speed internet.  It already was slow since it switched to the popup login in 2009 or 2010.

These problems happened on several browsers including firefox.

    Thank you

Why I can no longer post an average size message in this forum? Why am I being told that my text is allegedly 557 characters too long? Previous postings were much longer but could be posted without any problems. Why all of a sudden these restriction?

  • ultraradultrarad March 2011
Don't dislike the forum, but midori (cooking, updated) crashed 3 times as I was replying to the cluster thread.

Not sure but it may have hung on the autosave so I going to see if that happens on this post....

...apparently not.   Maybe when the message gets long? ....

    no...

Can't reproduce when trying, at least not while typing for several minutes.  But since others complained of this and it just happened, this but is still on the loose.
