Try using mplayer with the mplayer-codecs package also installed. I use it to play most of my wmv files.

Xine is also largely depedant on the gstreamer package, so it would be a good idea to install the gstreamer, gst-ffmpeg, gst-plugins-base, gst-plugins-good, gst-plugins-bad, gst-plugins-ugly for it. They'll also give you most of the packages you'll need to run any format in most players.
