force screen resolution
  • ossoss April 2010
I use vga=792 and screen=1024x768x24 as options on kernel line. Nevertheless, Slitaz 3.0 runs in 800x600. How can I force another resolution?
When I used Slitaz 2.0 I didn't experience this problem.

    slitaz-3.0 has xorg

To change resolution you have to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    as described here:
    http://listengine.tuxfamily.org/lists.tuxfamily.org/slitaz/2010/03/msg00008.html

    slitaz-2.0 has xvesa

If you want slitaz-3.0 with xvesa
    use flavor called slitaz-3.0-xvesa.iso

how do I get high resolutions on Xvesa? Check my thread.

Thanks, suggestion worked. I have added in xorg.conf the two resolutions "1024x768" and "1600x1200".
Unfortunately, the first time I made the login screen resolution was 1024x768. Second time it switched to 1600x1200. How can I return to 1024x768?

    Refering to http://listengine.tuxfamily.org/lists.tuxfamily.org/slitaz/2010/03/msg00008.html

    Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

    Remove all "800x600"

    Change
    Modes "1024x768" "800x600"
    to
    Modes "1024x768"
  • ossoss April 2010
    xrandr
    Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1024
    default connected 1280x1024+0+0 0mm x 0mm
    1280x1024 61.0*
    1024x768 61.0
    800x600 61.0
    640x480 60.0

How can I change default resolution? I wish to work with 1024x768 and not with 1280x1024 resolution (possibly without deletiung an entry in xorg.conf).
    Thanks.

My recycled PC (Toshiba ss2000) does not work with Xvesa (SliTaz 2.0 default X server). But Slitaz 3.0 works.
Unfortunately X font is large and the screen does not fit into the LCD display.
My solution is to add a screen menu to tazx. Screen resolutions get via xrandr. The patch is here.

    http://greencomputing.sakuraweb.com/slitaz/stuff/patches/tazx.patch

And I tried to build a core flavor's iso with the modified tazx.

    http://greencomputing.sakuraweb.com/slitaz/iso/

Usage is similar to SliTaz 2.0.

    1. Using Kernel parameter:
    e.g)
    slitaz screen=1024x768
    slitaz screen=default

    2. Using tazx menu:
    tazx config-xorg

    asimo
