    reading this
    http://www.digipedia.pl/man/doc/view/cpulimit.1/
should not you use the -P option to use an absolute path to the executable program file?

    root@slitaz:~# cpulimit -p /usr/bin/alsaplayer -l 20
    [1] + Signal d'arrêt cpulimit -p /usr/bin/alsaplayer -l 20
    root@slitaz:~# cpulimit -P /usr/bin/alsaplayer -l 20
Warning: no target process found. Waiting for it...

I tought that Slitaz 3.0 would have some PowerBox manager .... :(

i put a stupid question: was alsaplayer running when you gave the command?
  • moulefritemoulefrite April 2010
No. But here's the result with Alsaplayer running

    root@slitaz:~# cpulimit -p /usr/bin/alsaplayer -l 20
    [1] + Stopped (signal) cpulimit -p /usr/bin/alsaplayer -l 20
    root@slitaz:~# cpulimit -P /usr/bin/alsaplayer -l 20
    Process 1961 detected

So , of course, it's not for alspaplayer .. but web browsers

    root@slitaz:~# cpulimit -P /usr/bin/alsaplayer -l 20 seems to be working.
cpulimit detect the process, now you should verify if it limits process cpu usage.
if you need it with browser point it to the browser executable or maybe for testing to some cp hungry app
