Is it possible to do a Slitaz HD install make all my changes i.e. wallpaper, desktop icons, programs, browser bookmarks homepage add ons, etc... and then turn that back into a LiveCD?
  • seawolfseawolf February 2010
    Hi ImSofa --

One approach you could try is to add them to the 'addfiles' directory in /home/slitaz/distro and the LiveCD tool will add them after making the filesystem, or collect the relevant files in the /home/user directory and package them. Add that package to the bottom of the list tha the LiveCD tool uses to build it.

    HIH.

    Hi,

seawolf is right and with the freshly release of tazlito 3.0 you will just have to boot, make your modifications and then run: 'tazlito writefs' from the command line or the GUI box.

How does adding a jpg to an "addfiles" folder make the jpg a default wallpaper?

    Writefs writes to where?

I could not find writefs in the tazlito manual.

    http://www.slitaz.org/en/doc/manuals/tazlito.en.html

    Thank you.

@Slicel - The 'addfiles' folder gets pasted, if you will, on to the file-system after the packages are unpacked. Thus, individual files, such as the default wallpaper, can be overwritten.

Thanks I will be working on this later today. Has anyone done a "browser only" distro? That is my intention

    @slice

Website manuals will be soon remove, please use your local copy (from menu or /usr/share/doc/tazlito) or the Hg copy: http://hg.slitaz.org/tazlito/raw-file/tip/doc/tazlito.en.html#writeiso

    why are manual's being removed?
  • panksopankso February 2010
All SliTaz documentation is moving to http://doc.slitaz.org/ (website will link to it in time)

And manuals are not removed but kept in one repos to save work and maintainers time.

The other manual (hg) does not have writefs either.

"tazlito usage" does not show writefs.

I am not sure how slitaz knows where to paste a jpg found in an "addfiles" folder unless "addfiles" contains the entire system tree.

    Thank you.
  • seawolfseawolf February 2010
@Slicel Correct. It basically pastes the folder structure over the file-system.
  • slicelslicel February 2010
Seawolf, OK, I could not find addfiles in either of the manuals but now I am guessing that addfiles is not made manually by the user but is supposed to be created by tazlito at some point.

    Thank you.
