Grub problem
  • frenchhorn_manfrenchhorn_man January 2010
I installed slitaz 2.0 on my old Celeron 450 Mhz machine on the second hard drive. (I have two installed.) The first hard drive has Win98 on it. The installation went fine except that grub failed to find my 98 drive. Its not in the menu at boot. Slitaz is the only option that shows. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hi FrenchHorn_Man --

I'm pretty sure SliTaz doesn't detect other OSs & you'll need to add it yourself.

In Slitaz, edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst to include:
    title Windows 98
    rootnoverify (hd0,0)
    chainloader +1

or whatever hard-disk windows is on (the hd0 bit) and the partition (the other 0)

Thank-you so much. That worked perfectly. I'm coming to Slitaz from Ubuntu where Grub automatically configures such things, but Slitaz runs much faster on my old machine.
