modprobe: can't load module lib80211 ... wireless/lib80211.ko.gz) SOLVED
  • unameuname December 2010
    Hi,
i am new at SliTaz and it is great. I use it on an SD-Card (IBM T43).

    lspci (WLAN):
    04:02.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05)

    But there is a problem

    modprobe ipw2200
    modprobe: can't load module lib80211 (/lib/modules/2.6.34-slitaz/kernel/net/wireless/lib80211.ko.gz)

On my Debian the file contains to the normal linux-image-package. On this system there is no folder "wireless". Perhaps somebody can help me.

From what I see from the error, the module is probably there. Maybe you should try going to root first (using the su command, pressing return, then entering your root password - default password is root) then trying modprobe ipw2200 again.

Thanks for the answer. I solved the problem. Because of version "cooking" there was perhaps a change between "2.6.34" and "2.6.36". In the newer kernel i found all files and so i booted the new kernel. Now everything works. Very nice operation system, thanks.
