amsn sound

    how do I configure the sound on amsn? the sound server there is the option .... play $sound, what should I put? aplay $sound, alsaplayer $sound . any suggestions?

    Hi @Geraldo --

    In Pidgin, I have:
    alsaplayer -i text %s

    so aMSN should work with:
    alsaplayer -i text $sound


    This plays the sound without a GUI window, in a background, invisible, shell process.

    Just FYI:
    - If it doesn't sound, try it in a Terminal.
    - Check the volume settings with alsamixer; I've noticed it will lower my laptop speaker & earphone sockets on occasions.
