assign icon to application

    Can someone explain the procedure to assign an icon to an executable? Case in point, I just installed Iron (chrome with privacy) and I created a script on the desktop which launches the application. I'd like to replace the default script icon with the one of Iron.

    I'm not sure about setting an icon to a script, but if you use a .desktop file (such as those found in /usr/share/applications) you can use an icon that way. They're what build up the Launch menu. You may like to have the script somewhere else, e.g. in your /home directory, and use the .desktop file on the Desktop to point to that.
