Specify SMTP port 587
SSL tab
Send (SMTP)
Use STARTTLS command to start SSL session

already done, and still get the same thing.

*** Error occurred while sending the message.

and more than 20 mails i have got by today,
but can't reply even one, anyhow i can send mail
on the hotmail web page. but it's not the correct
solution.

PS. i have a feeling look like some program or firewall software is blocking my e-mail client. Isn't it ?. (not sure there is firewall on my system.)

I have found the easiest way to solved this problem already.

By changing the mail service to be Gmail, then the problem was solved.

Now i can send and received my e-mail by Claws-mail smoothness.

For firewall to work you have to install iptables,configure rules,set it to start on boot.
tazpkg search iptables , should say 0 installed

root@slitaz:/etc/init.d/firewall start
Setting up kernel security rules...                                  [ OK ]
Iptables rules are disabled in: /etc/firewall.conf...

Try this:

root@slitaz: telnet smtp.live.com 587
220 BLU0-SMTP9.blu0.hotmail.com Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.4675 ready at  Thu, 24 Jun 2010 12:27:42 -0700 

Do you get 220 reply or timeout ?

after i put "telnet smtp.live.com 587" at command line, then it's show as below.

root@slitaz:/home/tux# telnet smtp.live.com 587
telnet: bad address 'smtp.live.com'
....................................................................................

actually i solved the problem by the way i explain before, but it's would be great if we can find exactly what happening here on my system, for the future other newbies got the same promblem to be able to solve. ^_^
