[HELP] Conky below desktop [SOLVED]

Hi! I`m having a problem with my conky system monitor. I've configured all the settings (colour, items, position , etc) editing de conky.conf file but I was not able to make it stay over the wallpaper. When it starts it looks fine... but as soon as I click on the desktop or a desktop icon conky disapears. If I desable the desktop managment in the system preferences menu the conky appears, but obviously I don't have any icons nor wallpaper and I don´t want that!

Does anyone have a solution?

Hi there

My installation crashes at the point where the .gz file is uncompressed. i've tried both automatic and manual modes.

2Extracting the root system.." fails at 50%

Is there an alternative to the compression software that is used by default. If I wanted to use something like Gunzip - what would I put into the terminal to do the same job? i'm a newbie when it comes to commandline stuff soi any help is welcome. it also seems the main site is down so i don't hace access to the help docs at the moment.

Hallo everybody,

I tried to run kompozer 0.8b3.de.gcc4.2-i686.tar.gz - but it does not run and does not give any clear error message. So I tried to download ldconfig (within glibc-dev) but no success ldconfig either.

ldconfig: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.14-gdb.py is not an ELF file - it has the wrong magic bytes at the start

I cant run flash in slitaz 3.0 I install it and when its done sometimes it logs off

when I install it I open midori I go to youtube it say upgrade to flash player 10

I try reinstalling midori it wont work. Im running it from the ram only does that have something to do with it

I have compied Xvesa as told here. When I tried to start it i saw only mouse with cross-cursor and standard background.
When I tried to start Xvesa with JWM I've got
error: could not open display
from JWM and again mouse with cross-cursor and standard babkground.

I have no idea what it might be.

HW trouble - WG511 - "p54pci not found"

Hi Folks,

I just ran into a curious problem while playing around with an old WG511 (cardbus) wireless card.
I verified that the p54pci is the module I would like to use and isl3889pci is the firmware it should/needs to load.
The apropriate firmware is placed in /lib/firmware.

If I now insert the card, no module is loaded.
(It seems this is the dafault behaviour of Slitaz. Can it be changed to autoload modules?)

If I then start 'tazhw detect-pci' I get the responce :
"! Missing module: p54pci," <- The comma is no typo!!
"* Loaded module: prism54"

A 'depmod -a -m' doesn't change anything on this behaivior.

If I 'disable' prism54, by renaming "prism54.ko.gz" to "prism54.ko.gz.disabled", and run "depmod -a -m" a 'tazhw detect-pci' will then correctly identify and load the p54pci module.

Any idea why tazhw would miss the p54pci module while the prism54 module is present?

Another Mach64-Ati Rage Pro question

I had previous success installing the Mach64 packages on a P2 440-bx chipset laptop and am now trying to install these packages on a P2 laptop with a Ali chipset. I eventually found a .tar packaged that compiled and installed on the 440-bx laptop that got 3d working.

So I have the mesa-dri-mach64 and the xorg0xf86-video-mach64 packages installed and followed all the wiki instructions. I am using cooking with all the updates and booting into the 2.6.37 Kernel. (the previous laptop has cooking with 2.6.36 kernel so cooking has been updated?)

The /var/log/xorg.log shows that the Mach64 driver is loaded and recognizing the Video Card, setting the resolution, etc but throws the following error:

AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
[ 30.360] (EE) GLX: could not load software renderer
[ 30.360] (II) GLX: no usable GL providers found for screen 0

A previous post on this issue said this error happens when the file in /usr/lib/dri is not working properly, I am assuming in this case it is the file /usr/lib/dri/mach64_dri.so is not working.

Since it worked on the 2.6.36 kernel, maybe it is the new Kernel, maybe the Ali chipset, not sure. Any help or insight would be appreciatied.

I am having two troubles involving, I think, firewall and NAT etc...
one. I cannot access the internet via ppp0 (usb modem) while eth0 (LAN network, no internet) is up. I am assuming that the problem is a routing table problem that is causing it to look on the LAN for internet addresses.
two. I am trying to get the computer to share (masquerade) the internet connection out through the ethernet into my (real, wireless) router's WAN port so i can use my modem as wifi.

The question here is, is there a generic firewall.conf that i can just copy? I am having trouble getting past step one. I installed iptables and dependencies and tried setting the rules but I really don't know what I am doing.

Stage 2 will be to get this modem working over bluetooth but for now usb is good :)

How to set up printing?

Is the printing subsystem enabled by default? Only, when I go to "Manage Printing" I get an error message "can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:631".

On the Slitaz documentation website there seems to be no section dealing with printing.

I have SliTaz 3 working OK on an 8GB USB stick. I installed Firefox and it worked ok, but when I rebooted it had gone. I should be very grateful for some help in achieving persistence.

[SOLVED] Compiling problems

So I was trying to compile kforth and ran make, but I get this error:

/usr/include/sys/syscall.h:25:24: fatal error: asm/unistd.h: No such file or directory

So the problem is that the file exists, but it is in the same directory as syscall.h, so I changed it so it would look in the same directory, by editing the file, but then the same thing happen for a different file, but at /usr/include/bits/asm/ (but asm/ doesn't exist and all the files are just in bits/ ), so I realized doing that wasn't the answer (actually it probably is that right answer if you do it for every file).

Then a tried symbolic links and creating an asm folder and coping all those files in it too, but those didn't work either.

I also tried looking in the Makefile to see if I could change something, but nope.

Truth be told I don't really know what I am doing when I - rarely - compile, and the oldest package (.deb, rpm, etc.) to convert that I could find was more then a few years old. Anyways, it appears that something needs a fixing.

Building Custom Kernel Problem With Tazwok OR Something ?

Today I have to upgrade my Slitaz-Cooking-4in1, along with the new kernel of course. Which means I also need to update my tazwok and already. But when I create a custom kernel with the "tazwok cook linux",

USB automount

I have only one USB port and I need to automatically (without any actions, device should be mounted exactly after plugged to port) mount connected to this port device to some directory (directory should be alltimes the same, e.g. /media/flash/). How can I do this in Slitaz?

ok, so i've gotten slitaz stable to run and even install on my old Dell optiplex gx270 with out an issue (human error not included). But now trying to update tazpkgbox and write a packages.list file i get a constant "wget: bad address 'mirror.slitaz.org'" error anytime tazpkg tries to access the mirror. The mirror is up; I can grab files off of it through a browser if I want. But if the dependencies aren't filled then tazpkg tries to access the mirrror and fails. it's becoming increasingly annoying the longer I stay up and I was thinking someone here might be able to point out what I hope to be an obvious mistake.
I've looked at /var/lib/tazpkg/mirror and it reads "http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/stable" i've tried adding ftp:// instead of http:// and no dice. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks for reading

As I can see there isn't Remmina and even freerdp in Slitaz, even in packages repository. Could anybody tell how to install this programs? I want to try to use slitaz as OS for net booted thin clients, but existing rdesktop is too old and in fact doesn't work correctly at all.

1) The output of "fdisk -l" from antiX is:

I've tried it a few different times on different computers though I keep getting the same error: "Unable to find rootfs.gz." I know I'm not doing anything wrong because I'm not doing anything diferent from what the Guide tellls me to, and its not really far enough in the process for me to mess it up, witch was what I first thought.
So what's going wrong? How can I get around this? Could someone help me please?

This is my first post here.
First thing first, I'd like to THANK whoever is involved with SliTaz Project. It's such an amazing OS indeed.

I'll just explain a bit about what I need.

I'm currently trying to create my own remix/remaster/flavor of an OS and I'm thinking to do that with Ubuntu and SliTaz but quite honestly, I'm so much interested in SliTaz.

So far, what I really care about is GRUB2, how to install it? how to replace GRUB Legacy so that GRUB2 will be in charge?
I love GRUB2 and find it much easier to deal with than GRUB Legacy.

If I managed to install GRUB2 and replace GRUB Legacy then I could carry one and create my own iso file based on SliTaz.

lxpanel crash

After having installed slitaz I boot it and login, whether as root or as tux, does not matter. The opening screen is plain black. I have to use a right click with the mouse, select ,,xterminal", type ,,lxpanel" to the panel - with a note showing to a bug file in /home/tux/.cache.
I cannot see the Desktop surface. I have to start pcmanfm - then this Deskop shows up.

Unfortunately this bug file does not tell me anything. Anybody around here to explain its contents?

In this situation I cannot give slitaz to any beginner. They are just helplessly sitting in front of a black screen.

(By the way: midori is unsuitable to write to this forum. I can try to use it. But I cannot type into its field.

Most expedient way to instal dev packages and libraries

Hi--Searched the discussion and did not see an answer anywhere. I am generating packages using tazwok cook and it has been tedious to iteratively see what development libraries are missing from my current flavor and then doing a tazpkg get-install to d/l and install the appropriate libraries to get tazwok to compile.

Is there an easier way to install a suitable development environment on my slitaz distro so taxwok does not error out as often.

Slitaz Cooking Keyboard does not work

I used Pendrive Linux Tazusb installer to install Slitaz-cooking.iso on a 16GB USB stick It boots OK and the mouse does everything it should, but the keyboard does nothing. Soon after boot the keyboard Return Key enables me to select 'English' and then 'UK' , but after that it does nothing.
I have downloaded and installed 2 different versions of cooking, on 2 different sticks, the last one was cooking 20101104 [md5], they both have the same keyboard problem.
I have installed Slitaz 3 in the same manner on the same PC and the keyboard works perfectly.

I should be most grateful if someone could solve this problem for me. Regards Stan.

This is really silly. Is there anyway to fix that?
Note that it's very funny I can't even install any other browser for some reason??!!

My PC is P4 3GHz with 512MB RAM. It works VERY FAST with Ubuntu 10.04 so what's going on here?????

3) Is there anyway to install a Screen Saver?
I can't understand how heavy and bad to include a simple screen saver for SliTaz?

4) Installing anything from the Package Manger takes forever so why is that?

So far, these are my questions.

Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. The dev could work a bit harder to make this OS much better.
