ndiswrapper problem with solution

I'm using stable version 2.0. For my wifi card (zyxel G-102v2) I'm using ndiswrapper, but it doesn't work right unless hald is started first. Unfortunately, in rcS, the modules are started before the daemons. This causes my computer to freeze on udhcpc.
My solution is to start dbus and hald before the modules load in rcS, and remove them from the list of daemons in rcS.conf.
Someone might want to fix this.

Removing applications is not working

I'm using stable version 2.0. When I choose to remove the application, the xterm window pops up, I confirm the remove, the app is not listed in installed and everything looks fine but... The link to program doesn't disappear from menu and you can run the program easily. I click and it just runs. What's wrong? I can't remove anything...

Booted Slitaz 2 from cd, during boot I selected correct resolution for my monitor, but when it finished booting, I got the "Out of Range" message in the centre of the screen. I can't find any way to correct this. How do I re-select screen resolution once booted?

i was running a port scanner on my network AutoScan and noticed that port 6000 x window server is open on my slitaz box and was wondering what this was. I did a little googleing and think it might be remote desktop but didn't do a whole lot of digging. if this is the case I would like to know how to use this to get a remote desktop session working. And also how to turn it off after I am done playing with it.

vlc does not work in slitaz cooking

After installing vlc from mirror , when trying to run it following error appears:
vlc: /lib/libc.so.6: versio `GLIBC_2.8`not found (required by /usr/lib/libvlc.so.2)
vlc: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.8`not found (required by /usr/lib/libvlccore.so.0)
My version installed is glibc 2.10 and glibc-base 2.7 but I do not find GLIBC_2.8 in repositories.

Is there any solution for it

[SOLVED] GIMP deoesn't support JP(E)G images!

Hi --

Downloaded gimp-2.6.7 and it doesn't open any JPG images! It does support opening/saving GIF/PNG/BMP/XCF etc. so I think the compiler must not have installed the apppropriate -dev package before building it. I don't think it would fail compilation without said -dev packages, but just not support the image file formats in the build.

Could we get a rebuild with the appropriate JP(E)G -dev packages installed, please?

wpa_supplicant unknown -w option

Hi,

After a 'tazpkg upgrade', my Wifi connexion is no more working. Looking at boot log, I found wpa_supplicant complaining about a -w unknown option. The slitaz-cooking 2009 before upgrading was working fine.
I found a workaround that I would like to share:
Edit the /etc/init.d/network.sh and remove the '-w' option from every 'wpa_supplicant' lines. Actualy change:


wpa_supplicant -B -w -c/tmp/wpa.conf -D$WPA_DRIVER -i$WIFI_INTERFACE

to this one:


wpa_supplicant -B -c/tmp/wpa.conf -D$WPA_DRIVER -i$WIFI_INTERFACE

This is only a workaround and should probably be corrected in a future version ...

Each time I boot the system, SliTaz complain about sound cards missing. I tried to install the snd_ymfpci driver and also all the legacy ones without success. I have linux-sound-2.6.30.6 installed (it is installed by default).

This sound card is working with Xubuntu btw.

hello to everybody here on the forum :-)

installing the new slitaz-cooker I ran into some problems, maybe somebody had similar problems and was able to solve some already.

1. trying to install slitaz on a partition of my secondary hd (ide secondary slave), the (gui) installer ran through his routine, however the partition stayed clean, no files were installed. trying a manual install (acc. to slitaz wiki) I recognized no partition of my secondary hd could be mounted. so I installed to my primary hd (ide primary master), no problem there. however trying to mount partitions of secondary hd with slitaz mountbox then failed.

2. trying to add a new user-account failed, login is possible only with default users tux and root.

3. sound didn`t work. problem already solved, thanks to forum-posts with linux-sound package.

4. google earth crashed with:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Google Earth has caught signal 11.

5. keyboard map "de" isn`t saved. after new login it defaults to "en".
adding the line [Option "XkbLayout" "de"] to /etc/X11/xorg.conf solved the problem.

if anybody could give me some hints about above mentioned problems I would be very thankful.

general impression of slitaz-cooker:

congratulations christophe, you created an amazing operating system!
it`s just fun to experience this racecart-feeling after running heavyweight-distributions using gnome/kde.
booting up my old machine in about 16 seconds is eyewatering, it makes even small distros like antiX or puppy look slow!

when i want to rsync from rsync://mirror.slitaz.org/slitaz/, i got the error below:

i'm now rsync from rsync://download.tuxfamily.org/pub/slitaz/

Need help with Edimax EW-7318USg (USB)

Hi.
I have a Edimax EW-7318USg (USB)
I downloaded and burned Slitaz (slitaz-aircrack-ng-20090704.iso ) but when I try to run the script startrausb0 I receive "device not found"
I tried to start the PC with the EW-7318USg attached or to attach it after the system is up - same results.

Note:
I run startx went to menu/syste tools/wireless/driver selected RT73 from the driver's list and RT73 firmware and the Edimax EW-7318USg works and I can connect to the internet. I then tried to open a console and run aircrack-ng but I receive "bad command"

Any Idea ???

Recover Grub

Can't recover Grub with this commands:

root (hd0,5)

setup (hd0) <----- hanged after push enter

Later I did exactly the same with PUPPY and everything was OK.

Anybody knows what's the problem with SLITAZ? (I prefer SLITAZ because it boots faster ;) ).

Hi,
I've just installed Slitaz Cooking on an old Celeron 450 MHz. Things went fine: I chose ext3 and installed in /dev/hda1 (my only and primary HD).
Grub was installed in /dev/hda.

But when I try to boot, I get "L 99 99 99 99 99 99 (...)" message before GRUB can show up.

The hard drive is set to "auto" in BIOS settings.

Hi

I did reinstall my partition for the new Cooking version.

After installing of Xorg (difficult, but it goes now with very good performance: maximal resolution of the laptop-screen, better than in vesa, and possibility to use alternate keyboard setting and to use Indian Devanagari keyboard and truetype; truetype copied from Debian from the 2d. PC) I only connect me as "root". good... it is not dramatic, all puppy linux users do so...

but it is not proper and I would prefer to amend it and connect me as "me" and not always as "root".

(I already did try to create an new user according to the informations in the handbook!)

I know it is an old problem but I did not find an adequat discussion in the new forum or in the new wiki. can someone remember, what is to do?

I have noticed that some of the bigger distros(in file size) like Fedora and Arch Linux is providing GMA500 support for their OS.
But... there is a big "but" here... Its not out of the box. Its a lot of terminal commands and so forth. That leaves it for very few to utilize.

Then you have Mandriva, that got drivers for the GMA500. Its out of the box

There is a big "but" here as well.

Mandriva is to big and bloated to run properly on this weak chipset with an atom. Its boots up a lot slower than Windows XP.

So it does not really help to jump over to that one neither.

I know Slitaz comes(or came) in a EEEversion.

Is there by any chance someone that believes that such drivers can become a reality?

installed sox in upgraded cooking. tazpkg didn't get all the deps (so far: libmagic [file], libgomp, libao) and also current sox (14.3.0) wants libavutil.so.50 while current ffmpeg (0.5) supplies libavutil.so.49.15.0...and it appears the repo doesn't have this.

I'm using pam_mount to mount user's home from a server after identification on a ldap server. All it's OK, but when i logout, Slim does not restart ! I need ton enter in a console and to restart Slim.
In /var/log/slim.log i got :

slim: unexpected signal 13

Can tazlito be a simple as http://forum.slitaz.org/viewtopic.php?id=886 to make an iso flavor (burnable as live cd) of at least the current system (from standard hd or live cd or tazusb)?

"save current system as iso flavor" isoflavorname* "in" directory**

*default name="flavor001" (+1 if name exists)
**default directory="/home/slitaz/flavors"

Tazlito still failed even after fresh install of latest cooking iso and "Upgrade all."

Tazlito box get flavors still failed with server errors.

Tazlito box recharge list still failed with server errors.

Tazlito box gen distro failed with server errors and then "Unable to find a distro rootfs...."

Why try to use internet when making distro of current local system? Doesn't tazusb work offline? Why can't tazlito work offline from ram, swap, cd, dvd, flash, hd, etc.?

Tazlito box gen flavor also failed with rootfs error.

I then added rootfs directory to home/slitaz/distro but they still failed.

I then added rootfs.gz to home/slitaz/distro/rootfs but they still failed.

I then added rootfs.gz to home/slitaz/distro but they still failed.

How do I fix it?

[SOLVED] Zim does not start

Hi,
Zim looks pretty nice on its web page, but I cannot start it from slitaz cooking.

This is the error I get when trying to launch zim:
