tazlito problem with kernel modules paths

Hi,
I'm creating an ISO image with a set of own packages. Packages are deployed without a problem, only problem that I have is that while I'm running a new ISO image I can see that paths to kernel driver/modules are wrong.
When I run 'modprobe -l' I can see that for example path to 'eth0' driver looks like this:
"/home/tux/slitaz/build/hpce2/rootfs//lib/modules/2.6.25.5-slitaz/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.ko.gz" and this path doesn't exist on LiveCD.
Path "/home/tux/slitaz/" is the place where I run "tazlito" on my main Slitaz installation and after that there is a location of rootfs. The proper location for kernel modules should be "/lib/modules/......". I don't know why tazlito combines information about kernel modules paths in this way ?
I'm using commands "tazlito clean-distro" and then "tazlito gen-distro /path/to/file/with/packages" with the Slitaz 3.0.

I recently inherited an EeePC 701 with a rather bloated copy of XP loaded onto it - I promptly removed it and have now installed SliTaz onto the harddrive instead (its a distro I've always wanted to try).

However to my delight I've since read that there's a flavor dedicated to the EeePC here:

Problem is I'm still just an end-user when it comes to Linux and I don't really have a clue how to go about installing a particular flavor of SliTaz.

A quick bit of searching has led me to this repository:

I have no idea which I need, and how I can go about using them? I'm kinda guessing that I need to create a LiveUSB stick using one of them and then install it.... but that's as far as I've got!

Tried with both Midori and Google Chrome, and every time I click the box icon beside any package name, it reports with the same error: URL cannot be found. What now? I have 2 computers, one that runs SliTaz and one that runs Windows 7. The 7 computer is the only one that can access the internet, so I'm using that one to download TAZPKG files, then put them on my portable hard drive, then install then om the SliTaz computer. But I can't do that if I can't even download packages..... :'(

Udev errors

I have a desktop and a laptop both running the latest slitaz cooking (kernel 2.6.37). The system log frequently shows the following:

Any ideas why this is happening? The desktop posts this a lot more frequently than the laptop. Thanks.

Difficulty in remastering

Hello, I've been playing with SliTaz in a virtual machine and looking at all the customization I've done on it, I guess it is time I started remastering it.

But then following the standard remastering procedure often returns me with kernel panics when I try to boot the generated ISO, be it in an actual machine, the same VM I used to generate it, or another VM and I came to know that this is usually a common problem as I've read here:

EDIT: I kind of... figured it out, but still that fails. Any help?

The iTouch does not mount. I noticed above in the 8th line of the cat... output that the value for Driver is "(none)". Any ideas how to go about getting the iTouch to mount? gtkpod won't do anything unless I can get the device to mount.

Hello,

I found a problem, when I create a new live cooking CD.

Situation:

- I load the actual cooking version and save this iso to USB.

- Start PC with this version

- Run and

- I create a new ISO with

- When I now start with this new ISO the lxpanel doesn't start. :-((

Workaround from my side:

- I changed at file the entry from <"openbox"> to <"openbox-session">.

When I now create a new ISO and start them, X11 starts with lxpanel.

I am having a little trouble following the instructions on http://doc.slitaz.org/en:handbook:installation. The grub install would be fine, but I cannot seem to edit the menu.lst file even by using [code]su -c - root[/code]. Any thoughts?.

Slitax on Via Epia 5000 Boot Issues

I have a Via Epia 5000 motherboard and want to run Slitaz on it but cannot get it to boot.

After starting the ISO from CD I noticed it pauses for a bit on a line that says "Switched to NOHz mode on CPU #0" but does go past. However it then goes on and gets a line that says "Requesting events from the kernel...Killed" and all I get is a login prompt.

Logging in as root works however I cannot startx or get the GUI going.

Ideas?

Not recognising user password

I have just installed the latest version of Slitaz on an old Toshiba Portege 7140 laptop, as part of the process I entered a new user and password.

Although when I attempt tp log in it remembers the user name it will not accept the password. The only way I can get to login is as Root, with the default "root" password. Is this normal ? or what do I need to do so that it will allow anew user/password ? And by the way I was very careful and ensured that the password was exactly the same including the "case" of the characters. Thanks

[SOLVED] cups sign in problem

Hi, cups installation is a real trip! Have tried many approaches suggested in the forum, but can't get past the sign in to add/modify printers. Have done addgroup tux lp, addgroup root lp, and so on. Error message on the cups admin page says: local authentication certificate not found. This happens from system login as root or as tux. Any suggestions? I agree with posters who say that these printer setup hassles are a deal breaker for many newbies. I'm able to configure this Thinkpad T23 and Canon i950 (using an i850 driver) in Puppy in two minutes. The Puppy cups is an earlier version, 1.3 something. Slitaz 3.0 is terrific otherwise. SOLUTION: install cups, following the instructions in the "guides" documentation for printers (as mojo details in a comment below.) The installation starts the cups daemon. If you don't realize this, and enter "#/etc/init.d/cupsd start", the system starts a second cups process and you will be unable to login. You will have to reboot and enter the above start command. You will then have only one cups running and will be able to login.

screen brightness controls do not work on Toshiba laptop

My most recent laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A215-s5850. I run slitaz (among several other linuxes) on this machine, and slitaz is the only OS on it which will not allow control of screen brightness. The screen is always at full brightness and cannot be dimmed. This causes the battery to discharge very quickly. Please offer a fix. Thanks.

Xorg fails to start on boot up

I just installed a fresh box with a .36 cooking, which I then upgraded to kernel .37. Had some issues initially with an external DWA-125 USB wireless, but anyway, that's fixed now.

For some reason, when the OS boots up, it does not start xorg automatically. It lands on the text login screen. Once logged in, I can run 'startx' and start the X server just fine. Although, xorg does not seem to remember my desktop effects, but that's not really a deal breaker. Or maybe that's related to the first issue.

I looked into Xorg.0.log, but no errors there. Anyone have any ideas what's going on here? Or should I just start with a fresh cooking iso? Thanks.

Today I downloaded slitaz and extracted it on a 8gb usb flash drive,
and am very impressed of it and want to install it on there permanently, but whenever I execute the installer it gives me the error: cannot find rootfs.gz (I think thats error anyways)

If anyone can help it is appreciated.

Hi, I have written a small shell hack to lightly extend the output of df command.
It organizes data fields order differently and adds a small raw occupation bar to quickly view how full is each partition. It also skips header line and every root/tmpfs/devfs special partition.
The script only uses Busybox.

I have got a Acer Aspire One D250 and i wanted to install slitaz-cooking on my usb memory. I did but there are some problems regarding wireless driver. Right after installation I have upgraded all packages.
The problem is that I want to load the module, Broadcom-sta which, I think, is the driver of the wireless card but when I open wireless manager --> driver section there isn`t any module to load. And output of lsmod is also very strange there is only one line, Atl1c which is for ethernet driver. Nothing more...

Now, I dont know what to do?

I read the tazlito wiki but it does not help me: what should i use ?
I tried tazlito gen-distro but i get a number of errors :( and i am not sure this is the right command

The reason I don't want to use the Usb creator is because it never detects my flash drive (solvable?)

Hi All,

i'm not yet an expert of cooking woks. I've followed the guide in the slitaz documentation, i've added these packages in my slitaz distribution (cooking version):

when i try to cook the linux-wireless the process try to compile the linux package it depends to. But the process stop with this error

/home/slitaz/wok/linux/receipt: line 24:24: report: command not found

i understand that the package cointaing the report command is not istalled in the system but i'm not able to understand which package i must install. Making a ' tazpkg search-pkgname report' more the twenty packages come out.

Hi! Is there a command in slitaz to know which user is currently logged in? The "who" command doesn't seem to display anything except perhaps this: "USER TTY IDLE TIME HOST"..
